"I Can't be the Only Female Producer In the World" with Ebonie Smith
Jun 11, 2020Welcome to our Power of Audio Podcast. This episode is part of our Pandora Presents Pass the Mic series—an initiative that amplifies women’s voices in the audio industry and explores how audio has played a role in their success.
In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, Black Music Month takes on a bit of a different meaning this year. We are commited to amplifying the voices of women, especially women of color, who are breaking down barriers and driving change in the audio industry.
Ebonie Smith is doing just that. As an award-winning producer at Atlantic Records, Ebonie has always been interested in music and couldn't ignore her passion ever since she was a little girl. However, as she began to pursue this passion, her path led her to something unexpected: starting her own non-profit organization, Gender Amplified.
Tune into the powerful conversation to hear all about:
How Ebonie got her start in music production
The lack of diversity in classrooms and studios
Creating safe spaces for young females and women to learn
The power that comes from women showing up for each other
*Please note this podcast was recorded in April, before the tragic killing of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests
Executive Producer: Jocelyn Hudak Host: Lauren D. Williams
