Take it into your own hands.
Highlight: “The old adage of 10% is what happened and 90% is how you react to it… 90% is where we focus. It's really about knowing what you have control over and what you don’t, and managing the controllables versus the un-controllables, and taking it into your own hands.” – Sarah O. Moore
Focus and then pivot.
Highlight: “You're never going to balance it. You're never going to be perfectly balanced across the number of different facets that make you up. Focus on what you need to focus on at the time. Know that you're going to bring your whole self to that, and then pivot to one of your other 15 roles.” – Sarah O. Moore
Get diverse perspectives.
“We really focus on inviting people to the table and giving opportunities for that diverse perspective. Because again, it's one thing to hire that person. It's another thing to actually leverage their experience and their perspective.” – Sarah O. Moore
Bring others into the conversation.
“I learned early on that I am not the smartest person in the room. And my ability to allow space, and bring others into the conversation, and help them navigate opened the world for them to be those that are smarter and more creative than me.” – Sarah O. Moore
Use your power for good.
“Use your power for good… As long as you're using it for good, then it might not always work out as you want it, but you know you're coming from the right place.” – Sarah O. Moore
Sarah is clearly using her power for good, including by imparting so much wisdom in this interview. Ready for more inspiration? Check out more Pass the Mic content.
