Pass the Mic Ally: David Meltzer, Speaker, Author, Entrepreneur

Meet David Meltzer, Co-Founder of Sports 1 Marketing, and former CEO of Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment agency. He joined us at our Pass the Mic lounge at CES last month to share what he’s doing to inspiring up-and-coming professionals. David’s life mission is to empower over one billion people to be happy. He is a value-based speaker that has been recognized on outlets such as Forbes and regularly speaks at the world’s biggest business, sports, technology, and motivational events.

Give it to the women.

“I'm trying to articulate to people that if you really want to make money, let's give it to the women. Statistically, we have enough data now and enough tools to create and capture that data to prove that if you want to make more money, it's the women we should be investing in.” – David Meltzer

Ask for help.

“I really want to encourage, especially young people, to ask for help. Find people who sit in a situation that you want to be in, and add value to their lives by asking for help and becoming an investment in them. There's so many people that want to give help, and accelerate your own trajectory, and compound your own aggregate behaviors to the positive. We've paid the dummy tax. Let us get it back. The refund on the dummy tax is that young people don't have to pay it anymore. They know where those mines, and voids, and shortages, and obstacles, and mistakes exist so that they can move with ease instead of the dis-ease that a lot of us had to go through in order to get to where we're at. So, ask for help, everyone. It's an all-win situation.” – David Meltzer

Align your defining moments. 

“I think that more people have to understand the defining moments, inflection points, or even historical relevance, not just for what has happened, but the meaning that they give it. And so, defining moments are critical for me, that I align this defining moment of going bankrupt, of losing over $100 million, to give it the meaning aligned with in synergistic to a trajectory that I want in my life.” – David Meltzer

Use your skills to make people happy.

“I'm on a mission to empower over a billion people to be happy. About 17 years ago, I lost over $100 million, went bankrupt, and my wife saved my life by telling me I better take stock in who I was and what I wanted to become. And so I spent quite a bit of time in contemplation, kind of shifting a paradigm of what I could utilize my skills, my knowledge, and my desire for. And because I had made more money than I ever dreamed of and lost it, I realized that I had a greater mission and that the simple mission of making people happy. And so I directed it towards what I was good at.” – David Meltzer
