Face everything and rise.
“Fear to me means face everything and rise. Really think about that, because most of the time when you're fearful, it's something that's not comfortable within you. Face it. Why am I not comfortable? Why am I scared? Is it really life threatening? No, it's mental threatening. So where in this mental capacity of me that I can't overcome this silly notion of fear, you know. Because it's not tangible when you really think about it. Fear is not tangible. It's innate. So face it, and arise.” – Amelia Moore
If you try, you succeed.
“I think the easiest way to overcome fear of failure is just understand that nothing beats a failure but a try. If you tried it, you succeed because there's something that you're going to learn from that, not only about yourself, but about that experience. And so, when you go to do it again, you already have a point of reference.” – Amelia Moore
Think about your next move.
“Always pay attention to where you want to go next. I don't think we as women really pay enough attention to that. We get so content in where we are that somehow we just get comfortable. But if you're not thinking about what your next move is, you're not moving.” – Amelia Moore
Doing nothing is something.
“There are times where you just do nothing. Seriously, because doing nothing is doing something. And I had to teach myself that. Sometimes we as women, we’re just so geared, you know what I mean? It has to be right. It has to be perfect. There's no such thing. So sit down, relax, and let them figure it out. Because that's also a strength that you offer them, that opportunity for them to figure it out and bring it back to you, especially if you're an executive.” – Amelia Moore
Say you want to work with.
“I felt like I needed to give back, you know, to the women and the young ladies on some things, on how to deal with men better in the workplace. You know, the entertainment industry is a male dominated industry. And if you don't know how to navigate that, sometimes you get caught up. And I call it the setup. And so I educate women on, you know, don't say I want to help because we're nurturers. Say you want to work with—that automatically makes you an equal.” – Amelia Moore
Your sister is your friend.
"I experienced that big time, big time. Because there's not too many women in power in the music industry, so when they see another one, I mean, it's changed, but back when I was doing it, it was really tough. And I think it's just fear because they see the potential in you, and they know that there's a limited space. Not now, but then there was a limited space. And so, they don't want, again, that comfort thing. They're not thinking about where else they're going. Right? They don't see that you having their qualities gives them the opportunity to make another move. Right? So, I'm going to groom her so that I can take the next move. Right? Because I still want a female in this position. They don't think like that. And that's the paradigm shift—that's what I see so eloquently at Female Quotient. They’re doing that paradigm shift. Your sister is your friend. You know, she has experiences. You have experiences. Communicate with her, and you will learn more.” – Amelia Moore
