Listen to the full interview below, then check out some of the key takeaways from the conversation.
Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
Highlight: "Don't wait for permission. Pursue your ambition. Ask for forgiveness and not for permission. Our voice, our perspective, our ideas, they have value. And I think we also need to accept that sometimes we may not be completely ready for the next step, but it's fine. And sometimes we have to push and get what we think that we would like to do even if we know that we are not fully ready. Because at the end of the day, if you believe in yourself, if you have a supporting system, if you're curious, if you learn, if you know how to partner, how to collaborate with people, you will find a way to be successful.” - Delphine Hernoux
Constantly challenge yourself.
Highlight: “Every day I doubt myself. I think this is probably the reason why I am where I am. We are in an industry where everything is changing. And I think you constantly need to learn. You constantly need to challenge yourself. You constantly need to question yourself. And I think that if you become too comfortable, there is probably something that is not right. And I really do think that because I always have doubt, I'm never complacent. And I'm always eager to learn and also change my own perspective, because what is right today may be wrong tomorrow, and we just need to accept that.” - Delphine Hernoux
Help people find their path.
Highlight: “The biggest responsibility we have, if we put aside the work we do with clients, is the people we have on our teams. And I'm a big believer that we can, unfortunately, sometimes break people and make people. And I prefer to work on the side where I'm going to really help people to feel good and find their path and feel fulfilled by their jobs. And people did that to me when I was younger. And yes, I work hard to be where I am, but I also know that I was fortunate to meet some people and great leaders who believed in me and helped me to move to the next stage.” - Delphine Hernoux
Disagree and commit.
Highlight: “I encourage everyone to disagree and commit because you have a voice. Your voice is here to be heard. It doesn't matter at the end if you need to do something that is slightly different than what you express, but at least you had the room to express that.” - Delphine Hernoux
Say what you do, and do what you say.
Highlight: “My mantra is: Say what you do, and do what you say. And the reason why it's important is because that has been the best way for me to be a trusted leader, to earn the respect, and to be a credible leader. I will never walk away from that. I have no issue to go into the trenches with my team because I do think that this is how you can really learn. First and foremost, be supportive, and make sure that you help an organization to progress.” - Delphine Hernoux
Be clear about your values.
Highlight: “You can be self-aware, and you can be consistent when you're very clear about your values and how you make decisions and how you show up… I'm the same personally and professionally. So, I think that that helps me to be a leader grounded in who I am without playing a role. I always live in my values… But it's all about respect, it's about integrity, it's all about transparency, it’s all about a sense of care and communication.” - Delphine Hernoux
No matter where in the world Delphine is, her journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, resilience, and self-belief. Her advice is simple but powerful: trust yourself, keep learning, embrace change, and never underestimate the impact you can have on others. Success is more than the opportunities you create for yourself—it’s also about the doors you can open for others along the way.
